Erin Hefford, Associate Member

British Columbia

After years of traveling, I moved to the East Kootenays in 2019 to be in an area with a wide range of outdoor sports. I have a passion for being active. Following this passion, I earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Exercise Science and a Master’s Degree in Sport Psychology.

During my travels, I have had the privilege of working with student-athletes at The University of Tennessee, providing the mental training for athletes and coaches at a ski and snowboard academy in New England, and coaching gymnastics across the US and Canada. I have used these experiences during my sessions with weekend warriors, athletes, coaches, and even those who hate sports.

As I worked with these individuals, I recognized that the challenges that they faced also affected their families. This prompted me to continue my education to focus on Marriage and Family therapy, so I could register with the Canadian Association for Couple and Family Therapy (CACFT Associate).

Growing up, I was part of a military family. That is another part of life I have never left behind. My academic research has focused on supporting the mental health of our service members, our first responders, and their families.

Cameron Keller, RMFT

British Columbia

Cameron, a Professional Certified Coach and Certified Professional Co-Active Coach is the founder and President at Kaleidoscope Training and Consulting Inc. Following his retirement from being a national executive, Cameron founded Kaleidoscope to provide business consulting and executive coaching services.

Prior to founding Kaleidoscope, Cameron spend several years as National Vice President with the Mental Health Commission of Canada where he was credited with leading the world’s largest ever research demonstration in mental health and homelessness, scaling up Mental Health First Aid Canada, leading Canada’s largest ever concentrated anti-stigma campaign, developing and launching numerous workplace mental health educational initiatives and leading the implementation of both Canada’s first ever mental health strategy and the National Standard for Psychological Health and Safety in the Workplace.

Cameron has agreed to let his name stand for re-election as he is interested in continuing to support the Board in the implementation of a strategy and recognizes the importance of this time for the organization.

Through his consulting firm, Cameron is active in consulting to several Boards of Directors in a variety of sectors.

Nozomu Ozaki, RMFT Supervisor Qualifying

Ontario

It is my honour to be nominated for a Board Director role at CACFT. As a proud, reclaimed Japanese national and settler who lives in the Niagara region, the traditional territory of the Haudenosaunee and Anishinaabeg peoples, covered by the Upper Canada Treaties and protected by the Dish With One Spoon Wampum agreement, I bring a unique perspective and experience as a visible minority in Canada.

I’d like to contribute to CACFT’s continued progression toward member-driven governance that reflects your value and experience.

I am a proud parent with my wife to my own kids who give me both joy and daily challenge. I hold both Master’s and Ph.D. in Family Therapy and have practiced as a RMFT and Registered Psychotherapist in Ontario for the last 10 years. In my day-time job, I work for a children’s mental health agency where I mostly see children and their caretakers together. Additionally, I’ve been part of the University of Calgary’s Diploma in Couple and Family Therapy’s group supervision as a supervisor-in-training. I also taught for U of C’s Post-Master’s Certificate in Couple and Family Therapy, as well as for University of Lethbridge’s Graduate Certificate Program in Couple and Family Counselling Studies.

Andrew Sofin, RMFT

Quebec

I am honoured to stand for re-election to the board. Since 2018, I have been working hard to create an association we can all be proud of. In this short time, we have built CACFT into a national association with 1000+ members and very healthy finances. Je suis heureux de poursuivre ce travail : consolider notre présence à travers le pays et bâtir une association solide pour promouvoir la pratique et la profession de thérapeute de couple et familial.

My passion projects:

  • Building strong relationships with CFT associations internationally.
  • Collaborating with other Canadian mental health associations on issues we have in common.
  • Nous sommes une association nationale et nous devons enfin devenir une association pleinement bilingue.
  • Establishing policies & procedures and best practices for all areas of CACFT: Branch bylaws, committee structures, financial protocols, and promoting Canadian CFT research.
  • Creating strong Committees, working groups, branches, and Groups with clear mandates and the ability to hold our association accountable to our values and mission.
  • Inclusive strategic planning to reflect our values, goals, and aspirations.
  • Promoting our unique RMFT designation among the public, professionals, and government, while distinguishing us from other psychotherapy and counselling licenses.
